| This is the first pier at the Igirisu Hatoba (British Wharf), which was enlarged after the fire of 1866. The pier was commonly called Zo-no-Hana ( "Elephant's Trunk "). Until the iron pier was completed in 1894, large ships could not dock here. Barges docked on the left side of the pier. This is the area where the pier meets the big pier at present. |
