| The "Daibutsu" is the main Buddha at the Kotokuin and used to be inside a building called the Daibutsuden. It was originally a wooden statue, but in "Azuma Kagami" (historical record of the Kamakura Shogunate), there is mention of starting to mold the gold and copper "Shakanyorai Buddha" (actually Amida statue) in 1252 in Fukasawa. |
