| The main shrine of Nikko Toshogu is viewed from the west. The inner sanctuary is in the centre. The section one level lower is called Ishinoma. The inner shrine containing the tomb of first shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu is located in the forest above the stone embankment. Carvings of tapirs can be seen on the upper part of the shrine doors. |
