| East side of Higashiyama seen from the eastern approach to Yasaka Shinto Shrine. The Yaami Hotel annex and Western-style main building are visible on the left. The three-story building in the middle is the Yoshimizu Hot Spring where Akashi Hiroakira, promoter of the modernization of Kyoto, built a replica of the Golden Pavilion in 1873. A Japanese flag and company flag are unfurled from the eaves of the Western-style building. A few people are visible on the street lined with electricity poles. |
