| The red-brick building on the right down the hill is the French Consulate designed by French architect P. Sarda and built in 1896. The Yamashita foreign settlement lies across the Horikawa Waterway. The building with the chimney in the centre is the old Grand Hotel, while the Japanese-style roof on the left of the hotel is the former Hepburn residence. |
