| These entertainers were called "geiko." Experts in performing arts, they created an atmosphere of conviviality at parties. Visible (from right) are a shamisen lute, a small drum and large drum, a flute and a "taiko" drum. This setting is similar to the "goninbayashi" (five court musicians) seen in the doll festival for girls, although the latter sing rather than playing music. |
