| Lake Shinobazu had a Bentendo on Chikubu Island which was built by the priest Tenkai, forming a miniature of Lake Biwa, when he built Kanei Temple in the second year of Kanei (1625). Mt. Ueno provides a bird's eye view from the Kiyomizuzaka. There are tea houses along the approach. Further on, there is a Bentendo in the center, with the Kijiin to the right. A photo before Mt. Ueno was designated as a park in the 1873. |
